I already bought Zach’s school supplies…last week, to the tune of $50 (this included a scientific calculator and a fancy binder which theoretically should last for the rest of high school).
So why did I find myself in the school supply aisle of Wal-Mart again today, especially since I only went to Wally World for butter when I was out running some other errands this morning?
I love buying school supplies. I especially love buying rock-bottom-priced school supplies.
So, I suppose my eyes lit up, then blinked a couple of times to be sure I was reading the shelf price label correctly, when I landed on the “advertised special” of 5-cent spiral notebooks this morning. (Think about it: there are very few things one can buy for a nickel anymore.) The Wal-Mart bag on my dining room table now contains 10 of those bargains. I will pay more if I need to–in fact, I did, last week, for just a couple of the things–but I am happiest in the school supply quest when I bump into the cheapest price for a package of your basic school-bus-yellow pencils or a 70-count college ruled spiral notebook.
There is nothing really earth-shaking or deeply profound about any of this. It just is part of this day so far–and it makes me smile.
One of my absolute favorite things to buy is notebooks. There’s something about those clean, crisp, blank pages that just beg me to buy them. The cheap ones are great, but I really like the cute ones, too. Unfortunately, they’re not usually so cheap!
I love to buy the boxes of crayons for 22 cents. Andrew loves the sharp points on them and it’s a great reward for a good trip to WalMart. I even found a box for 5 cents! I just couldn’t resist!
Hi! I was surfing and found your blog post… nice! I love your blog.
